Belarus to mull possible Kazakh oil imports with Russia
NUR-SULTAN, Jan 27 (PRIME) -- Belarus will discuss oil imports from Kazakhstan with Russia, a representative of the Kazakh Energy Ministry told PRIME on January 26.
“The negotiations and working consultations of a draft agreement on trade and economic cooperation in the sphere of oil and oil product supplies between Kazakhstan and Belarus are going on in a routine mode. The issue of possible supplies of Kazakh oil to Belarus through the territory of Russia will be discussed by the Belarusian colleagues with the Russian side,” the spokesperson said.
Russia stopped exports of oil to Belarus on January 1 as the contract expired, while the negotiations fell through in the previous year. Exports were resumed on January 4, but the Belarusian government has been working to launch oil imports from other countries in the meantime, including from the U.S., Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
